Larry retired from academics in 2016 to pursue the launch of FABHAUS. He was a tenured architecture design and research professor who was a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University - Graduate School of Design and was a faculty member at Mississippi State University , Florida Atlantic University and Ball State University.

His work is internationally recognized in the areas of the impact of Information Technology (IT) in architecture, digital fabrication, automated construction and performance housing. He has traveled to over 30 countries as an invited speaker at academic conferences, design critic, housing ministries consulting, and is currently engaged in international projects.

He has extensive experience in design, construction, digital fabrication and real estate development. He is the Founder and CEO of FABHAUS. He invented the FABHAUS Building System and collaborates on international projects with a talented international team. The FABHAUS Building System provides deployable durable resilient housing and structures.

Larry (Dr. Barrow) earned a Bachelor of Design (BD) and a Masters of Arts in Architecture (MAA) degree from the University of Florida (magna and summa cum laude) and a Master’s of Design (MDes) and Doctor of Design (DDes) from Harvard University. He is co-author, with Shaima Al Arayedh, of the book: The Global Housing Crisis - An Industrial Design and Fabrication Opportunity in Architecture.
